Following the successful delivery of hospitality training with Nyirrunggulung Rise (NR) for women in the Barunga, Wugularr (formerly Beswick), and Binjari communities, we are pleased to share that the male cohort has now commenced training. This marks a significant milestone, as previous efforts to engage this group in training opportunities had been unsuccessful.
Motivated by the positive outcomes experienced by the women and supported by the GTNT Group Foundation, the male participants are now undertaking six units of competency. The program’s flexible delivery model allows individuals to engage at their own pace, and interest has grown significantly, with total participant numbers now reaching 63. This initiative is equipping participants with valuable employability skills and will enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities, particularly through involvement in the upcoming Barunga Festival, taking place from 6–9 June 2025.
