Institute of Skills and Training Australia (ISTA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that delivers high-quality training tailored to a variety of learning styles. Our training is designed to equip students with industry-current skills and knowledge through interactive, engaging, and flexible learning approaches. We are committed to ensuring every student has a positive learning experience and graduates with practical skills, recognised qualifications, and lasting memories of their time studying in Australia.
Institute of Skills and Training Australia is registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET) services. ASQA is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of VET services across Australia through the regulation and auditing of Registered Training Organisations. ISTA is regularly audited by the VET Regulator to ensure compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations, including the Outcome Standards, Compliance Standards, and Credential Policy.
As an Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO 0381, CRICOS 03929D), ISTA delivers nationally recognised accredited training and non-accredited short courses. Our head office and primary training facility are located in the heart of Darwin's vibrant Central Business District, with additional training facilities in Katherine and Alice Springs.
Our courses support students from all walks of life to gain industry-relevant skills and qualifications that lead to meaningful employment and career progression. We deliver training across a range of industries, including hospitality and business, helping participants build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required for successful career pathways. We strive to be an innovative and creative leader in the education and training sector, where student success is at the centre of everything we do.
Our mission is to increase student capability by engaging with local, regional and international markets to provide opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential. ISTA is the Registered Training Organisation of Top End Group Training Pty Ltd and forms part of a broader commitment to workforce development, education, and community outcomes across the Northern Territory.
A core focus of ISTA is supporting disadvantaged and underrepresented cohorts through accessible vocational education and training opportunities. We work closely with communities across regional and remote Australia to deliver programs that create meaningful pathways to employment, further education, and long-term independence. Through practical support, mentoring, and tailored training delivery, we help individuals build confidence, develop skills, and achieve sustainable outcomes.
By partnering with local organisations, employers, community groups, and government stakeholders, we prioritise support for First Nations peoples, people living with disability, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, job seekers experiencing barriers to employment, and those living in regional and remote communities. Our commitment is to ensure that quality education and training remain accessible to those who need it most.
ISTA is continuously building its capacity and remains committed to delivering quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students. We are focused on providing an inclusive, supportive, and positive educational experience for learners from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
The Institute of Skills and Training Australia has been recognised nationally for its excellence in vocational education and training. In 2023, ISTA was awarded Gold in the Small Training Provider of the Year category at the Australian Training Awards after first being named Northern Territory Small Training Provider of the Year at the NT Training Awards. ISTA further demonstrated its commitment to quality and continuous improvement by securing consecutive Northern Territory Small Training Provider of the Year awards in 2023 and 2024 and being recognised as Runner-Up in 2025.
